Christian - Islam Debate. Chennai, Tamil Nadu

Posted by Brethren News on December 13, 2011 at 8:35 PM

Sakshi Apologetics Network (SAN) and Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamath (TNTJ) have agreed to have a series of debates (10 panel debates and two debates with one representative of each side) starting from January 2012, with two topics being debated at the interval of every three months. The first two panel debates (a) Is the Holy Bible the word of God? (b) Is Quran the word of God? will be held on January 21 (Saturday) and January 22 (Sunday afternoon) and January 28 (Saturday) and January 29 (Sunday afternoon), respectively.

The Christian panel will be led by Bro. Jerry Thomas (SAN) and the Muslim panel will be led by Janab P Jainuabdeen Moulvai, head of the TNTJ. We seek your earnest prayers for these debates particularly for the following reasons: TNTJ is not another Muslim organization but it is a Sunni Muslim sect having more than 10 lakhs followers in Tamil Nadu itself. Janab P Janiulabdeen Moulvai became the head of this sect (denomination) in 2010. While there were a few debates earlier with Islamic organizations and Muslim preachers, it is very rarely that a debate had happened with the head of a Muslim sect. Therefore, though we are limiting to the audience to 300 people for the actual program, we believe that the recordings and transcripts will have a greater reach and impact among the Muslims in Tamil Nadu. The debates will be translated to English and Tamil depending on the language that the speakers use. Further, Janab P Jainulabdeen Moulvai has been in the forefront against Christian faith and doctrines in Tamil Nadu converting a few Christians from evangelical Churches and claiming that none could answer him for the last 25 years. We hope and trust in the Lord that through these debates and its recordings, faith of the Christian believers will be strengthened. Therefore, for defense and confirmation of the Gospel, we seek the prayers of saints as individuals, families and Churches.
