Bro. Subbiah, Devarkulam, Tamil Nadu

Beloved Brethren,

Greetings to you all in the Name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

I was astonished, when I was requested to share the Word of God in a Thanksgiving meeting, in a big village, Devarkulam, situated between Tirunelveli and Sankarankoi, Tamilnadu.

Bro.Subbiah -[ otherwise known as Subbiah Asari because of his profession - blacksmith- fixing iron shoes for bullocks] now 70 years old, one of the first fruits of the village, wanted to conduct this thanksgiving meeting on 22.03.2012.

The reason for thanksgiving is this.  It was on 22.03.2010, his right leg was broken in an attempt to fix iron shoe for a bullock.  As the treatment in the Tirunelveli Medical College hospitals did not help, he was admitted in a private hospital for 15 days at an  expenditure of Rs.4000/- a day.  The Lord graciously met all his financial requirements, but he was bedridden at home, unable to attend assembly meetings. With much difficulty, he made an attempt to participate in the Lord's Table one Sunday, that made him to suffer more. His son, assisting a tailor, and his daughter - deserted by her husband - sustained with a boy, are looking after him.

It was predicted by many that he will not survive even for six months, but he is still healthy in all other respects except the leg injury. He has such a zeal for the Lord, and he is not complaining, but has a great desire to come into the fellowship of the assembly.  He shares Gospel and his testimony with all who visit him and to the neighbors His wife passed away last year.

It was the desire of this old brother, to proclaim the Gospel on completion of 3 successful years of sick bed, so they convened the meeting at his house on 22.03.2013. I was greatly moved by his faith and zeal for the Lord in the midst his sufferings.

When I inquired his son and daughter, they explained the fact that, the chances for complete recovery are remote, and a series of surgeries to be done soon, which may cost more than a lac of rupees. And if the surgeries fail, his leg will have to be amputated and an artificial leg will have to be fixed, that would help him to prolong his earthly life for few more years with minimum sufferings. Though Bro.Subbiah, was adamant in not going for any further medical treatment and claim that the perfect will of the Lord be done, and willing to face even death, we urged his children to take him to the Hospital.

Please Give glory to the Lord for Bro.Subbiah, and pray for the mercy of the Lord for this family.    I post  this mail, as I felt it worth-sharing, and bring glory to the Name of our Lord.

Thank you.
